Guest Count and Sound: Why We Always Ask How Many People
It is the first question on every enquiry form, and it is not small talk. Guest numbers decide the entire sound design.

Every enquiry we send back starts with the same three questions: date, venue and guest count. The first two are obvious. The third surprises people, but it is the single most useful number we can have, because sound does not scale by guesswork. A system that fills a room of 60 will disappear in a room of 200, and a system built for 200 in a small courtyard is simply uncomfortable.
How sound systems are sized
More guests means more bodies absorbing sound, a larger area to cover and a higher background noise level from conversation. Up to around 60 guests, a single pair of quality powered speakers usually does the job. Between 60 and 150, we typically move to a column system with a subwoofer, which gives even coverage and proper low end without dominating the room or your photographs. Above 150, and especially where people genuinely want to dance, we move to a concert grade rig with separate tops and subwoofers, so the music has weight rather than just volume.
Indoor versus outdoor
Indoors, walls and ceilings reflect sound back at you, so you need less power to fill a space. Outdoors there is nothing to contain it, so sound disperses quickly and you need noticeably more system to achieve the same impact. Outdoor events also bring wind, open sides and often no mains power, which is why we plan for battery equipment and our own generator where needed.
Covering several areas
Many Maltese venues are not one room. You might have a ceremony in a garden, drinks on a terrace and dinner and dancing in a hall. Each of those is a separate sound zone. Trying to serve them all from one position never works well, so we plan a small dedicated setup for the quieter areas and hold the main rig for the dancefloor. It costs a little more than a single system, and it is the difference between guests hearing your vows clearly and straining to listen.
Give us the number
An approximate guest count is fine. Tell us roughly how many people, the venue and whether anything is outdoors, and we will size the system correctly the first time rather than arriving with the wrong kit.
