Uplighting
Wireless uplighters washing your walls in a single colour, so the room has changed before anybody sits down.
What it is
Uplighting is the least technical thing we do and often the one that changes a room the most. Small LED units sit on the floor around the perimeter, aimed upward at walls, columns, arches, drapes and architectural features.
The effect is instant and it happens before anything else does. Guests walk in, and the room they are walking into is already the colour of your day rather than the colour of the venue's paint.
It works particularly well in Malta because so many venues are limestone. Stone takes colour in a way painted plaster does not, picking up texture and shadow across the surface instead of going flat.
How it works

Battery powered, so no cables
The units run on internal batteries, which means no extension leads across floors and no need for a power socket near a wall. In a heritage venue or a marquee that is often the difference between possible and not.

Positioned during setup
We place them around the perimeter and aim each one. It takes very little time and they are out of the way before guests arrive.

Colour set to your scheme
Set once and matched to your palette, or changed through the night. Warm amber for dinner, your colour once the party starts, is a common request.

Runs all night on one charge
A full charge comfortably covers a full event, so nothing needs touching once your night is underway.
What it does to different rooms
Uplighting is worth more in some venues than others. This is roughly what to expect from the spaces we work in most.
Ballrooms and palazzo halls
Picks out columns, cornices and arches that are otherwise lost in shadow. The room reads taller and more designed, and the architecture you paid for actually shows up in photographs.
Limestone and stone venues
Malta's best surface for this. Colour catches every bit of texture in the stone, so the walls have depth rather than sitting flat.
Marquees
The biggest transformation of any venue type. Uplighting turns plain white lining into a designed colour space, and stops a marquee reading as a tent.
Plain or modern function rooms
Where uplighting earns its money. A blank magnolia wall becomes a deliberate backdrop instead of a blank magnolia wall.
Courtyards and outdoor walls
Washing an exterior wall or a facade after dark extends the event beyond the lit area and gives the space an edge.
Gardens and trees
Units sit at the base of a tree and light up through the canopy. One of the best looks we do outdoors, and because the units are battery powered there is nothing to run out to them.
When there is nothing to light
Uplighting needs a surface to land on. In an open space with no walls and no trees there is nothing for the colour to catch, so we use washes or LED tubes instead to get colour into the space.

How many uplighters do we need?
We supply in sets of eight, twelve, sixteen and twenty four. It depends on the perimeter rather than the guest count. A small room is transformed by eight. A standard wedding room usually sits at twelve or sixteen. Twenty four covers a large hall or a full unbroken perimeter.
Do you need power near the walls?
No. Every unit is battery powered, which is why we can light a marquee or a stone courtyard with no sockets anywhere near the perimeter.
Can the colour change during the night?
Yes. A warm tone through dinner and your colour for the party is the most common setup, and it costs nothing extra to do.
Can you match an exact colour?
We colour match closely to a brand colour, a flower or a fabric swatch. Send us a photo or a colour reference and we will match it as near as LED mixing allows.
Are they hot or noisy?
Neither. They are LED, they run cool, and they are completely silent.
